On Being Smart, Too.

Guess who got a 28 on the ACT?

Why, yes, that would be me!

On Being Gorgeous

Apparently, I'm pretty.
My parents tell me that I am all the time. But they are parents, that's what they are supposed to say.
My friends say it, but its what teenage girls do. We say, "Ugh, my (hair, face, skin, make-up, etc.) looks (gross, horrid, dead, undead, post-apocalyptic, etc,) today." And our friends immediately say, "What? You? Are you crazy? You are gorgeous!"
My boyfriend (Let's call him E) says it, and I believe him more than anyone else that knows me, but he also likes me for my personality, so it is entirely possible that he is exaggerating.
The lady selling overpriced food at the jazz festival said I had pretty hair, and I believed her, since she was some random person who had absolutely no obligation to act nice to me.

Its not like I have low self esteem and constantly need to have people tell me how beautiful I am. Or that I'm the kind of person who always has to have people fawning over her. But, admit it, it makes you happy when someone says something nice about you and sincerely means it.

Which brings me to the story I have to tell. E told it to me today after school.
He has a friend there who was in the band concert at the jazz festival on Friday. After the concert, E went to go say hello to him and brought me with along.
Yesterday E went to honor band, which is made up of the best high school musicians in the county. The friend that I met on Friday was there. They had a conversation that went like this:
Friend: Who was that cute girl with you on Friday?
E: My... friend.
Friend: Friend?
E: My girlfriend.
Anyway, they continued talking about me and E told me that "it escalated" and the conclusion that they came to was that I was (and I quote) "drop-dead gorgeous."

Well, those are some strong words, and though they were probably influenced by my slightly biased boyfriend, they still came from some random guy who had absolutely no obligation to say things like that, or to even begin a conversation that was about a "cute girl."

I think I'll believe him. :)

Inanimate Objects That Hate Me

List of inanimate objects that hate me:
1- Printers. All of them. Everywhere. Even if it works for you, I can guarantee that it still will not work for me.
2 -Stairs. I not only fall down them, but I also fall up. And sideways. And concrete stairs cause me to lose the tip of my big toe.
3- Touch screens. Pressing harder or repeatedly does not help.
4- Air-return vents. I direct you all to a picture of an x-ray from last June. It shows my pinkie toe. At a 45 degree angle.
5- Headlights. Not that I've ever left mine on all day resulting in a dead battery........
